FLOODS AT NELSON. By Gable—Press Association—Copyright Nelson, June 28, There has been heavy, continuous rain for two days, and the water in the river has nearly reached its banks. Considerable areas are inundated in the city and a good deal of damage to market gardens and poultry yards is expected, but details are not available yet. SLIPS AND FLOODS. Wellington, Last Night. A wild igale has been blowing all day, accompanied by heavy rain. A portion of the populous suburb of Island Bay was flooded to some extent, and tram traffic was stopped owing to the water covering the track. It wa9 not till 9.30 to-night that the full service was v resumed. Slips occurred on Brooklvn and Karori tram lines, disorganising the traffic. The work of clearing these is now proceeding. At a late hour to-night the weather showed signs of improving.
