WAITARA NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Last Night. It is surprising how little interest the farming community take in their business past the ordinary drudgery that calls for attention daily. Recently it was announced that if sufficient inducement offered the Education Board would establish a class for the purpose of educating the farmer in regard to woolclassing and sorting, but so far as Waitara is concerned it has not been of interest to any of the farming community. Yesterday, in conversation with Mr. J. B. Barleyman, he informed me that Mr. James had placed his woolIshed and the necessary wool at the dis--1 posal of the Board, so as to give farmers the i opportunity of improving their scanty knowledge on the finer points;' of wool. Particulars may be obtained from Mr. T. Buchanan at Waitara in reference to the matter..--Seeing that, there are t\venty-fivtf"supits"'read/ to _start at TJrenui, it is 'surprisihg' siat ,a similar or even ha/f that number arfenot prepared to join a- class at \Yaitaxa. j Members of the-. Clifton Rowing Club intend that patrons of their opening "social" on Friday evening will have a good impression of- the benefits of a suitable hall, and each evening this week intend to put their work into preparing the floor. The building will be declared open by the president (Mr. A. W. Ogle). 'The "ladies' committee intend that the catering will be satisfactory, and, taken altogether, a/ most enjoyable evening is being looked Iforward to. Mr. P. Gribbon has kindly donated a handsome clock to hang in the building, for which the club' are grateful. The s.s. Waimate completed her loading and sailed on Monday evening. _, The s.s. Suffolk js expected to arrive this week to load tot West of England ports. ; The Ivy Assembly's fortnightly progressive euchre party t is„ to..be held this evening. Mr. R. Farmer has given the Clifton Rowing Club a nice drop scene for use at the new hall. His thoiightfulness is much appreciated.
