It is expect-, ed that a decision regarding the recent compact will be came to to-morrow. I At the afternoon session, Dr. Henry addressed the convention on the progress of temperance reform in America. This afternoon a banqiiet was held in the Town Hall, about 300 being present. Speeches were delivered by Mr. Wesley, Spragg and Dr. Henry. _ i The liquor question, from the point of view of the Maori, was described at a meeting in the Town Hall to-night, lhe speakers were the Rev. F. W. Chatterton (Gisbome), Rev. F. Bennett (Rotonia), Miss Stirling (Hawke's Bay), Rev. R, S. Gray (Christelrarch) and Rev. L. M. Isitt (organiser to the Alliance). A ! resolution was adopted requesting that, the Maori race be given a vote on the' licansing question. j THE BARE MAJORITY PRINCIPLE.' Wellington, Last Night, i The Trades a,nd Labor Council to-night passed a resolution sympathising withj the Alliance's efforts to secure local option and Dominion option by a bare: majority.
