(From Our Own Correspondent.) Both the Maketawa and Moa Dairy Companies are .paying out a bonus this month m addition to the ordinary payout. At a time when dairy cheques are so small tihe additional amount is more than acceptable to the average farmer The newly-formed "Mounteds" had their worth tried on Saturday last, when they were billed to go into camp. The troops, however, preferred the comfort of a warm bed to the hardships of living under canvas." " The Inglewood Debating Society held a most satisfactory meeting on Monday, there ibemg a large attendance; including a fair proportion of ladies. Mr T E. Hamerton presided. The debate set'for the evening was, "Do we carry athletics t M° eß £ ? o , Mr - °- M - Mt ' ** o nded by Mr. F. Schwieters, took the affirmative side of the question, and Mr. C O Biernacki, seconded by Mr. J. Carrie, the negative. The vote resulted in an easy victory for the negative. One member, in the course of his oration, said: "Summing, sir, is the cleanest sport in which we indulge!" An extensive festival in connection with the Salvation Army was held on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday evenings and afternoons. The ceremonies were conducted by Colonel Knight and StaffCaptam Orames. There were a largo number of visiting brethren present, and the affair, which was the 24th anniversary of the Army's establishment in Inglewood, proved one of the most successful of its kind vet held.
