HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Hospital Board met on Saturday. Present: Messrs. F. C. J. Bellringer (chairman), G. W. Browne, W. Cutfleld, E. Maxwell, M. J. Macßeyaolds, C. Andrews, J, R. Hill, J. Brown, G. V. Tate, G. O'Sullivan and D. H. McDonald. MEDICAL REPORT. ! Dr. E. A. Walker, medical superintendent, reported that during the month of 1 May, 35 patients had been admitted and 3'4 discharged. Four had died, and 34 remained in the institution. OLD PEOPLE'S HOiME. Mrs. Bayly, matron of the Old People's Home, reported that since last meeting there had been two males admitted. Tli ere were now in the home 32 males and six females. Everything at the institution was going along satisfactorily. A VALUABLE BEQUEST. Tlhe solicitors reported the saie ol the property bequeathed to the Board by Peter Hansen. As a result of the sale, the Board would receive £454 15s. The chairman explained that this amount would earn a subsidy of 24s in the £, making the bequest worth over £IOOO. —This money will probably form the neuclus of the new hospital building fundi. URUTI DISTRICT NURSE. The secretary reported regarding the Umti district nurse fund. It would be necessary for the people in the district to raise £44 15s Od towards the payment of the nurse's salary for the incoming year.—lt was decided to forward copies of the statement to Mrs. McKenzie, secretary to the fund, and to others, interested.
, OUTSIDE PATIENTS. •The secretary for the Hawera Hospital Board notified that a man was admitted to the 'hospital there on April 28, ami .'wjfe>- committed to the asylum. He, was f/>nnd on the Main South road in a very low state and required immediate attention. He bad a ticket on him from" a' society in England, paying his passage to New Ptymouth, and had only been jjji'N'ejv Zealand a shorfTtime. Tjliis anneaiied,-to be a case in which the New Plymouth' Board was liable.—The Board declined to accept liability.
