TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE. MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 7th June, I held my usual four-weekly sale of above produce. The cataloge comprised 8 bales and 61 sacks of -wool, 2446 sheepskins, 19 casks, 5 kegs and 58 tins of tallow, 234 calfskins, 1405 hides, besides the usual assortment of hones, horsehair, cowtails, etc. Hides—The M 65 hides included over 700 ox and cow from the freezing works. These commanded special competition, some lines of cow hides realising the excellent- iprice of 7y 4 d to 7y 2 d per lh. Despite the %d to %d drop in the Sydney and Melbourne markets since my last sale, hides sold exceedingly well, there ibeing only a drop of y 4 d, which fact speaks volumes for this market. The large quantities of hides which vendors now find to their advantage to sell through me has .attracted the attention of buyers all over Xew Zealand, as well as Australia and America, they -being confident of obtaining their requirements when such a large quantity of hides is catalogued. Sheepskins—Best lines declined y 4 d t per lib, while damaged and inferior pentxt j lots showed a drop of y 2 d per lb. Tallow declined 15s to 20s .per ton. LONDON DIHTTTRODUCE REPORT:

Messrs E. Griffiths a,nd Qp>*sm> Plymouth, are in receipt of the "following market report from their London prin> cipals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated April 29:— r ~.,,_ ,-. The weather during the past week' has b->en rather' cool -for' the time- of the

year. ' Banish.—The four kroner reduction of last week was evidently not sufficient, tmd the quotation was reduced acfurt-her 8-kroner yesterday, .j ,_ (~,.-> ~-•} Siberian—Arrivals this week amount

..to about 8000 cask's, and as buVeVs « : re ' not quite ready for this butter, • >this quantity has had the effect of upsetting the market somewhat. French—A Traction of 6d .per dozen on the first tUtee 5 qualities of iresh rolls and Is fourth quality ig announced.-;for next,, and both fresh and salt 'baskets are from 4s to Ss down, s<S tMt) 'this Hufcter is at last coming a little more into line with other kinds. ,_. Australian: The only arrival this week' h»s been ihe ; s.'s. Moldavia,.'with' 12.000 boxes, ibut this, together with the quantity that was left over ex the, Suevie, has been sufficient to meet all needs, as the trade haa ibeen very quiet, buyers

holding off the.market, and using the last ounce before, replenishing their stocks. The comparatively 'large arrival of Siberian." butter has 1 again haa a depressing effect on the market, but as smaller arrivals are now expected for the next three, or. four weeks we how look for a gooif steady trade at t'd-day's quotations, as we think prices are now down to * level which should bring the •demand again, .jhere ave several steamers now due'arid* the arrivals next week will be fairly toeavy. New Zealand—The Ruapchu's butters | have been on 'the market this week, together with part of the Karamea's cargo, which was not cleared last week. There haa been a fairly good'demand, although ■prices on.the whole are 2s to 4s lower. Argentine—There was a fair quantity carried over from last week, and sellers reduced quotations from 2s to 4s, which ;has been sufficient to dear the butter. Oheese:—-Canadian—Trade has continued quiet, and quotations this week are unaltered.

New Zealand—Trade has again been slow, and in some quarters there lias Deeu a little pressure to sell, with the result that prices are Is lower all round.
