PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD
;. — *m \ -MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Parihakii Road Board was held at tne licaru's office, ißahdiuj-- on Wednesday last. There were present: Messrs Youjut U'hiirman), Dueker, Harvey and Willcox. Ihaia Road—A special order was made striking a special rate of %d in the £ as security over a loan, of £450 on the Ihaia road No. 3 rating area. A previous rate of %d was struck, and though this was enough under the old method of ; raising loans, it was found insufficient j under the present Act. '
J Lower Kina Road—-Seven chains of forming and metalling on this road as recommended by the foreman are to be done as soon its cbnvenient.
r Warea-Newa'll Road—2ooyds of metal ;are to be obtained'for* this ijoad as recommended. .• ;. ( ~. ■ ■ Te Namu Road—This road is to be repaired ae suggested by the foreman. ■Lower Kahui Rom—The foreman is <to attend to a culvert complained of by Mr. Willcox.
Upper Kahui Road.—Mr. Willcox is to report on the question of the water backing up on this road on to Mr. Chapman's property as complained of by tlie ■latter.
Ngariki Road—Mr. J. Willcox is to he given timber for a culvert on this road, 'iprovided he puts it in sis offered by ihim.
Sanders Road—The foreman is to spend £4 in draining this road.
Rahotu Domain—The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote that he would not allow any gravel to be taken from this land.
General—The chairman is to interview Mr King, re fencing off the saleyards from the Board's property. The old dray springs are to be sold for 15s, and two tons of cement are to be procured for pipe-making.
Tenders—Tenders were dealt with as foillows:— Ihaia road 'No. 3 loan, Hi»gins and Johnston £34!) 10s, R. Warner £329, A. C. Vincent £298 15s, Vickery and Hickey £297. (The lowest wrll be accepted as soon the loan money comes to hand). Mauihi road, A. Mag'o-n £59, F. Willcox £42 10s, D. Rothery £4l 15s (accepted).
Overdraft—The Bank notified that the Board would be allowed to overdraw this year up to £ISOO. Scarlet Fever—On May 12th, Mr. A. F. Chapman reported to the Board that some of his family had scarlet fever. The District Health Officer had been advised and on visiting the district found 10 cases of fever. Dr. Barron had been instructed to report to the Board and gave a similar reply. Accounts amounting to £3OB were passed for payment.
