The Lauderdale completed her discharge on Friday and sailed at 5.30 p.m. for Kohukohu, Hokianga. Captain Naylor, who had been chief officer of the vessel for some time, signed off the Lauderdale on Friday and proceeded to Wellington on Saturday. THE CORINNA. The Coriuna, which *as delayed in the south through fog and other causes-, arrived in port on Saturday morning with 553 tons of cargo, including 250 cases of kerosene and large quantities of produce. Five Ayrshire cattle were also brought, consigned to Mr. Sollars, of Okaiawa. To-day the Corinna loads about 600 crates of cheese and 315 boxes of butter for transhipment to the Corintluc, besides about 150 boxes of butter for local consumption. The F.H.S. Line's latest steamer to load at Liverpool for Australian and New Zealand ports was the steamer Empire Transport, which was to have left Liverpool on the 2nd inst., being due at Wellington towards the end of August. The Empire Transport is the first oi we boats recently built by Messrs Houlder | Bros, for the Liverpool-Australasian trade, to be placed in commission. All the new vessels, it is reported, are to have the word "Transport" embodied in their names. Details of the new steamers are not yet to band, but it is stated that although they vary in size, they average 10,000 tons, and are passenger steamers of the type of the Everton Grange, but of larger dimensions. Accommodation is to be provided for a limited number only of saloon passengers, but provision is to foe made for between 200 and 300 in the steerage. It is anticipated that the immigration traffic will be especially catered for. Those miners to be devoted solely to the carriage of cargo embody all the latest improvements in order to ensure rapid discharge. The 'whole of them will, it is understood, be fitted with refrigerating' machinery, so that the company may be able to cope, with the ever-increasing demand in Australia for space for perishable producer and frozen meat. * ■ ■'
