STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. The firebell disturbed the residents at breakfast this morning, the cause of the alarm being a burning chimney. A rumor was about town this morning that Dalgety and Co. hail purchased a section in Broadway. As far as I can ascertain, the report lacks truth. Judgment was given this morning in the case of F. E. Taylor v. W. J. Kneebone, a claim for £ls damages through Negligent driving 4>y the defendant. Plaintiff was nonsuited, with costs £'£ 17s 6d. The plaintiff was also nonsuited in the case W. J. Kneebone v. C. Latham, a case arising out of the collision.

At the meeting of the Stratford Licensing Committee yesterday a number of licenses and renewals were granted. There woiv no police objections.
