Sir R Strachey informed the Central Associated Chambers of Agriculture that 'the outbreak of foot, and month disease in Argentina fully justified Wie Board of Agriculture in refusing to comply with the pressure from both sides of the House of Commons to remove the embargo on Argentine cattle.
