LORD ROSEB SKY'S RESOLUTIONS. UNEMPLOYMENT ASSURANCE. BILL I'ObTPONED. Received Jur.c 9. 10.10 p.m. London.. J'.ne !). It 'is understood that Lor:'. Roseoery does not propose to proceed with his resolutions, and he has intimated that he does not wish to do anything to pre-l vent a spirit of pacification. Lord Rosebery added that his resolutions 'stood on tlie-ir own foundations and were in no relation to the Govern ment's veto resolutions. THE CONFERENCE OF PARTIES. THE KINO'S WISH. LABOR AGAINST COMPROMi-<i;. Received June 10, 12.15 a-m. London, J mi' 0 The Right Hon. Mr. Long's statemen that if any effort-; for a peaceful nttlement emanated from the 'Government, rth-ey would meet with read}' and patri otic response from the Opposition, was made with the full concurrence of Mr Balfour and his colleagues. The Chronicle states that a Round Table conference is highly probab];, and tlia,t the Government will shorVv 'mti j ate negotiations. There; is reason to be-! lieve that King George earnestly desires' that a resolute effort be made to f md a peaceful solution by the statesmen of, both parties before the combat is re-! sume;l. The paper is not sanguine of the' results of any conference, for the Gov-j ern cannot recede from its pos : ti jii.' The zone of concession on the T.iberal side is .strictly limited. The Right Hon. : Mr. Long's conciliatory spirit was very welcome, and if there was peace wuh honor, giving fair .play and Li 1 ); a; legislation, so mudi the better. Nevertheless, the crisis was provoked by the ag-' gresisve acts of the-Lords. The matter was one of life and death to Liberal-1 ism. There was not much room for compromise where so much was at stake,! The Daily News says that whatever, steps the Government may be tempted' to take they must be governed by con-| sideratkms of the conference, and must not be covert to partv manoeuvres. A speedy settlement was essential. The mandate of tlhe country was clear andi compelling. . According to the 1 Press Association,' lobby opinion shows that the conference, is assured . The membership will con-| sist of Cabinet Ministers on the one side and Unionist ex-Ministers on the other. ' i
The Times and Chronicle declare that Laboritcs are strongly opposed to the conference. The Times add? that the Nationalists are willing to await the issue of the conference. . Unionists consider that in the event of a conference the Government should produce their scheme of reform of the Lords.
