STRATFORD DAY BY DAY
(From Our Own Correspondent). Stratford, Last Night. The Railway Department propose adding 25ft to the luggage-room at the local railway station. This addition, when completed .will obviate the necessity of using the public office as a store for parcels and small eases. A man named Marshall working at the Skinner road 'ballast pit was severely injured about the face this morning through an explosion. He was brought in to the hospital. Rifleman Speck, of the Stratford Rifle Club, has iproved himself a most consistent shot. In his last three matches at the 500 yards range he has put on 24 consecutive bull's-eyes without a sighting shot. A quiet wedding was celebrated in Stratford this morning, when Mr. A. Mercer was married to Miss Milner. Mr. J, Pell, of the staff o( the local brnz.eli of the Xew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, has received notice of his transfer to Timaru, for which place he will leave almost immediately. For several weeks past the Public Works Department have been very busy shifting stores and materials from Hn* roa to Te Wera, necessitating the running of trains all night. This work is now almost completed, and in consequence the traffic has diminished. A rumor is afloat that the Railway Department will take the Te Wera section over on Thursday.
