THE WINTER SHOW.
EXCELLENT ENTRIES. STRONG SCHOOL AND HOME INDUSTRIES SECTIONS. The entries for the Taranaki Winter Show closed on Saturday nigM. They are very satisfactory in nearly every section, but as yet it is.' impossible to give the exact figures. The entries in the butter and cheese classes are very large, and they come from all parts of the North Island. This will tie the strongest dairy produce section ever entered for a New Plymouth show. The exhibits of technical and other school work are very large, and thUi is bound to be a very popular section with old and young alike. Another good section is the cookery section, which the ladies of the district are supporting extremely well. Roots, grain and fruit are not so good, for the season has not been conducive to good crops. A big show is assured, bigger than was) at first expected. Every available inch of space has been applied for, and more. There will be working machinery exhibits, including no less than eight milking machine plants. The puzzle for the committee now is to find space for all, even although the whole of Kawan street is to be under canvas. The committee meets to-rifight.
The public can depend on the staging] and general arrangements being satisfactory, for there is a very hard-work-ing committee, every man being intent on making the show a .success. The entries and applications for space having come along well, and the estimated £SO in prize money having grown to about £9O, the rest remains a good deal with the public. There's nothing like having a good start. This is the start of an annual winter show in .New Plymouth, and it is hoped the public will flock along and give it their hearty support.
