STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.

(From eur Special Correspondent). Stratford, Last Night. It is stated that it is improbable that the work of relaying the rails on the section between Stratford and Huiroa will be completed before Christmas, ft is stated on good authority that the Douglas Skinner Road bridges' will require attention before they will be fit to stand the heavy traffic which it is anticipated will pass over the line, and it is possible.that one of them will have to ibe rebuilt.

At the monthly competition for Messrs. Hailenstein Bros.' trophy on the local Rifle Club on Thursday, Rifleman Rogers secured a "leg in" with a s'core of 85. The weather very materially affected the shooting, and the scores in consequence were not up to the usual standard.

Two young daughters of Mrs. 'W. Rajkes' were thrown from a pony this morning, but beyond a shaking escaped without injury. It is probable that a wool-classing class will be started at Te Wera next week.

A charge of alleged sheep stealing will occupy the attention of the Court next week.

'Notice is drawn to an advertisement in this issue, "Where to stay in Stratford," The Trocadero Private Hotel is situate in a very convenient position in. Regan s'treet, being very close to fcne railway station. It has recently been renovated, both inside and outside, and considerable improvements effected. A new entrance hall and staircase has been provided. The dining-room has also oeen considerably enlarged, and will now comfortably accommodate sixty people at a sitting. A first class menu is always provided, whilst the attendance is good. The bedrooms are lofty and airy, and everything is new and clean. One feature that the proprietor (Mr. H. A. Prebble) finds very gratifying is the fact that those who visit "The Trocadero" once invariably go again. Although the accommodation provided is equal to that of a first-class hotel, the tariff is only the very reasonable one of as iper day.
