THE GOVERNOR'S FAREWELL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. His Excellency the Governor, who is paying a farewell visit to Dunedin, was presented with an address on lieliarf of the citizens this- afternoon. Subsequently he attended the annual meeting of the Society for the Health of Women and Children, where he delivered a snort sipeech, and at 5.30 he held a levee at the Town Hall. He will leave for the north to-morrow. DR. FINDLAY IN THE NORTH. , Wlmngarei, Yesterday. Dr. Findlay, Attorney-General, who lectures at Whangarei to-night on ''Native Land, Its Laws and Settlement," stated in reply to a deputation that the Lunatic Act would be amended this year. On tlie question of plaints in connection with the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act. Dr. Findlay sees no reason why plaints could not be taken before Justices of the Peace, who are doing this' work very well. A FAMILY'S SEND-OFF. Feilding, Yesterday. At Cheltenham last night Mr. 'W. Mills and his family received a send-off on their removal' to Hawke's Ray. Every member of the family, including six grown-up sons and daughters, received valuable presents from the settlers, the football club, cricket club, etc. Mr. Mills was the first settler of Cheltenham thirty-four years a<xo, and is now pioneering again in the Hawke's Bay district. PROTECTION FOR TI'X'XEL WORKERS. Reef ton. Yesterday. The Premier states that the Government had seriouslv considered the rider of the jury re the Otira tunnel accident, and were taking every possible step to see that workers were protected in every possible way. The contractors! were a,lso anxious to do their best for the safety and welfare of their employees.
