CITIZEN AND ARMED BURGLAR
A DESPERATE STRUGGLE. VALUABLES RECOVERED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Mr. Mains, a resident of Mountain road, Remuera, had an exciting experience last night. Hearing, someone moving about m a room overhead, he ran upstairs and saw a man disappear from a bedroom on to the balcony. Darting downstairs again, Mr. Mams caught the intruder as he was sliding down a verandah post and, adroitly throwing him, managed to keep nim pinned to the ground till the police arrived. The man struggled violently, all the time making a desperate effort to reach a loaded revolver that was in his coat pocket. A search made when the police came, revealed that the man had the whole of a burglar's kit in his possession, and that he had secured Mr. Main's gold watch and other jewellery, valued at over £2O. The man was warned off Takapuna racecourse on Saturday, and the police believe him to be identical with a wellknown Australian criminal
