CROWN DEFENDERS.
MINISTER CONSIDERING THE MATTER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Justice, the Hon. Dr. Findlay, states that he is considering the advisability of introducing m New Zealand the system of Crown defenders, so that prisoners without means may not be deprived of legal assistance at their trial. Some amendment of the law will be necessary before this can be done, and the Minister hopes to place the matter before his colleagues at an early date, so that the measure may be introduced during the coming session.
