BANANA AND OOCOANUT CROPS DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 18. News by the Tofua states that the islands llaapai and Niafoon, in tdie Tonya group, were visited 'by a hurricane on Alay 7. At llaapai it lasted live .hours, und the plantations suffered severely, all the bananas being levelled to the ground. The fruit was picked as it lay, and was shipped to Auckland, arriving in good condition. Particulars of the danuge at Niafoon are not. available, bu it is understood the greater part of the cocoanut crop was destroyed.
