HORROR OF INSOMNIA
DRIVES A MAX TO SUICIDE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Christclmrch, Last Night. A. F. Niclioll, assistant accountant ■with the legal linn of Dimcan, Cotterill and Stringer, was found in his bedroom at his homo about 1*1.30 this mornJng, shot through the heart. A pea rifle was near the body, the position of which appeared to indicate that Niclioll 'held the rifle to his heart and operated the trigger with one of his toes. On the arrival of a medical man he found that life was extmct. For some months past Nicholl had been suffering from insomnia, and towards the end of last year, owing to illness, which was due to the same cause, he was off duty for a month. Recently he was further troubled with sleeplessness, and it is stated that he was unable to sleep for the last ten or fourteen days. At the inquest a verdict was returned that deceased committed suicide whilst temporarily insane.
