MURDER AND SUICIDE.
IN THE NEW HEBRIDES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, May 3. Details received from the New Hebrides of the murder of M. Colardean, one of the principal French residents at Port Vila, show that the deed was committed on the night of March 2G during a heavy gale, which swept Villa anu| devastated Fiji. The murderer was Powell, an Englishman employed by M. ( Colardean. He went to the room wneie Hie Frenchman was asleep, pushed a rifle through the mosquito curtains to Within an inch of the sleeping man's Mouth, and fired. Powell afterwards committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver. M. Colardean, a few days previously, displayed conspicuous bravery in rescuing several persons from a burning schooner laden with dynamite and gunpowder.
