KILLING OF McCARTHY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. San Francisco, May 1. McCarthy, who was killed in the fight with Owen Moran, put up a plucky fight, but was outclassed. When lie hit his head on the floor with terrific force he kicked convulsively and rolled o'ver unconscious. Quite a sensation was created amongst the immense crowd. Two physicians were called into the ring, and discovered the fracture twenty minutes later. , I Moran spent the night in prison weeping, kneeling and praying for his opponent's recovery. The Methodist ministers of San Francisco have called a conference to lorce the Governor to intervene in the oef-fries-Johnson fight. < London, May 1. The Observer states that in consequence of McCarthy's death an effort will be made, in America to secure the declaration of the Jeffries-Johnson fight illegal.
