ODDFELLOWS' SOCIAL.

MMONT LODGE ANNIVERSARY. The "social" in connection, with the fifty-third anniversary of the Loyal Eginont Lodge, 1.0.0.F.* MIU., held in the Brougham-street Hall last night, was the most successful function held in connection with the Order in New Plymouth lor many years past. The success of it "was due in a great measure to the fact that the lodge now has a number of lady members, and these "sisters" banded themselves into a committee determined to show that Oddfellowship was a real live thing. The attendance was rather over two hundred, of whom approximately a liunclred anil twenty took pure in the euchre tournament. "Pour ladies hnd to play off a tie, and Miss Kovelcski won the first prize, a very handsome pair of oilpaintings presented by a newly-initiated brother. Mrs. H. Evans was second. The men's prizes, a wallet' and a razor, were won by Messrs. Williams and Huse. • The supper was a decidedly ,g'ood feature. Mr. J. West was the caterer, and his supper was supplemented by the ladies' committee, who had collected scores of dainty dishes from members and friends of the Order. Tliev had also decorated the supper-room very prettily, and bhey assisted in attending to the .wants of the guests. The ladies' committee comprised Mesdames Ainsworth, MeOahey. Oliver, and Misses May Sole, C. Sole, E.Sole, Oliver. McGahey, Rountree, Loveridge, and Ainsworth; ami Messrs. C. Bond, 0. McGahey, Duller, Matheson, and H. T. Ainsworth (secretary) formed the men's committee. After full justice had been done to the supper, dancing was indulged in, the, floor being rather too well filled at times. Capital music was played by Mrs. Cop-pen,, and Mr. R. Matheson was I

M.O. It is the intention of the lodge to hold further public "socials" durinnr this winter, as well as functions for lodge members and invited friends, and, judging by the initial affair, they should be eagerly looked forward to.
