(From Our Eesidem CorrenponJeat.) Stratford, Last Night. Mr. Walter Ludlam, one of the victims of the Wanganui drowning disaster, was recently an employee at the Stratford abattoirs, leaving in February ior Wanganui. He was well known "litre, and had a large circle of friends, who deeply regret to hear of his untimely death.

Mr. F. T. Webb, of Bulls, is at present on a visit to Stratford, and is starji" with his daughter, Mrs. Mclvor. ° Mr. A. W. Sullings.. of Pohokura, who has been in bad health for some time, left for Wellington this morning to consult a specialist. Mr. Priest, an old resident of Stratford, is on a visit here.

It is rumored that Mr. Sanders, of Ngaere, has disposed of his garden to Mr. Truelove, proprietor of the Ngaere Gardens. The property adjoins the Gardens.

. Mr. J. McCutchan, of Gisborne, brother of Mr. W. A. McCutchan, of Whangamomona, is visiting Stratford. Mr. J. Patterson, who for the past seven years has been an employee of the Borough Council, has resigned, and leaves next week for Invercargill, where ne will take up his permanent residence. The Stratford A. and P. Association have decided to hold their first show about Christmas time.

The membership of the Stratford A. and P. Association now numbers over four hundred, a very fine result considering the short time the association has been in existence.

Mr. J. B. Hine, M.P., lias written to the General Manager of Railways and the Acting-Minister suggesting that the prohibition of school-children travelling on the mail train be not enforced till the return of the Minister from Australia.

Peter Neilson and Harold TCetterer were charged at the Magistrate's Court this morning •with breaking and entering and the theft of various articles the property of F. Close of Toko. The accused pleaded guilty, and wore eommitted to the Wellington Supreme Court for sentence.
