NEW PLYMOUTH CALEDONIAN SOC. ANNUAL SPORTS. r Glorious weather favored the Calei donian Society for its annuals.ports, and there was a very fair attendance of the public at the Recreation Sports Ground. The running and cycling tracks were in splendid order, and some excellent racing was witnessed, the finishes in most cases being sufficiently close to be ■exciting. The Highland events, whilst not attracting large entries, appeared to be just as popular as ever with the .public, and the very clever steps of the dancing competitors were closely watched and appreciated, 'whilst the bagpipes provided the musical portion of the programme. The arrangements for the meeting were very satisfactory. A feature, and a very unsatisfactory one, was the wretched support accorded ofche meeting by the local people, fully \two-thirds of the attendance having x come in from the outside'districts during the morning by crowded excursion ( trains. , The following are the results:— AMATEUR EVENTS.
