THE PENGUIN AND DUCO
CLAIMS AGAINST THE OWNERS. LIABILITY ADMITTED. By Telegraph.—Pres» Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Arbitration Court to-day several cases arising out of the loss of the Penguin and the Duco were -dealt with, and in each instance liability was admitted by the shipowners. Mrs. Abram, whose husband was master of the Duco, was awarded £SOO against the Wellington Harbor Ferries •Company. In the cases against the Union Company with respect to the wreck of the Penguin, orders were made as follows: Mary Hayes, awarded £405; Mrs. Loosemore, widow of an officer, awarded £IOO, the Public Trustee to administer the residue of the estate for the benefit of her posthumous child; Mrs. F. Driscoll, awarded £207, on account of the death of her son, one of the officers. Tn the case of W. S. Rentoul, engineer, the Court ordered the payment of £135, to be administered by the Public Trustee for the benefit of his relatives.
