AUCKLAND SURPRISED.
Auckland. Saturday Night. Interviewed m regard to the intimatioin that the Cabinet lias re-considered the Knyvett case and has no recommendation to make, Mr. J. S. Dixon, chairman of the Knyvett defence committee, said he was greatly surprised at the decision come to. "Jt s evident the whole thing was a farce," said Mr. Dixon, "and 1 will call a mooting of the committee on Monday ncti to lay the whole matter before our legal advisers. We intend to fight the, matter to a iini>)\ and will take it into the law courts. Cabinet's decision comes as a thunderbolt, not alone to me. but' I am sure to the Auckland public, and I feel now that Mr. Knyvett has boon more unjustly treated than ever. AA'e asked that the opportunity of thra-lti-ig the matter out should be given in a new trial, and that request h:is been kfusrtl. It can now he taken for gra itfed that the whole of the facts will be adduced ill the course of a civil action."
