CHAIRMEN AT LOGGERHEADS. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Mr. D. E. Wood, chairman of the council of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen, states that the remarks made by the president of the Athletic Union (Mr. G. W. Woods') are very misleading and contrary to fact. Mr. D. E. Wood says that the agreement, which iwas signed by himself and Mr. G. W. Woods at the conclusion of the conference, contained a clause: T't being understood that the agreement does not come into force until such time as the Wanganui and Southland Caledonian Societies become affiliated to the Union." This claus'e was inserted on the dictation of Mr. G. W. Woods and fully tigreed upon. Mr. D. E. Wood takes special exception to the assertion, which is absolutely untrue, that J. Arnst had not paid his fine in connection with the Royal Enfield Cup race, as the amount had actually been paid to the North Canterbury Centre of the League on September 30th, 1909. Mr, Wood further states that no discussion whatever took place regarding the meeting place of the last conference.
