Received 1, 12.15 a.m. Sydney, January 31. There are indications that the mineowners anticipate an early settlement of the strike. Horses are being returned to the 'Pelawmain mine, while deputies arc getting the mine in order. The owners have received the Miners' Federation request for a conference. Nothing iis likely to be done till the owners meet next week. Some of the owners aflirm that they will stick to their guns, and not confer till the men return to work. The owners intend to be represented on the Wages Tjoard, and state that it is an .open conference. If the miners will l e likewise represented and then go ba n lc to work, the owners will lie willing to confer with the object of shortening the proceedings of the Wages Board.
