A FATAL FALL. Wellington, Tuesday. A foreman ganger named O'Brien, employed by the Union Company, fell down the hold of the steamer Rakanoa at the Taranaki-street wharf this morning, and was killed. JUMPED OVERBOARD. Christchureh, Tuesday. Henry Cranley, 33 years of age, with a wife and two children living at Dunedin, a passenger to Lyttelton by the Maori last night, jumped overboard about ten miles from Wellington. A cousin who was witli him thinks Cranley was worrying about something, as he heard a policeman ask him his name, and he gave a wrong one. Christchureh, Last Night. The Shipping company, officers of the steamer, and the police know nothing of the' alleged jumping overboard of Henry Cranley, as reported to the newspapers by his cousin.

A SUDDEN DEATH. Christchureh, Last Night. George Piper, 68 years of age, a resident of Sydenham, fell dead yesterday afternoon "in the street while out walking with his daughter. At the inquest the medical evidence was that symptoms pointed to heart disease. A verdict was returned accordingly. T'-er, who had a family of nine, ws- •„ lUekmaker by trade. FOUND DEAD. Christchureh, Last Night. A man named Thomas Creading, about 30 years of age, was found lying dead on tlie Mead road near Rakaia this morning. It is believed that he fell from his horse and sustained injuries to which he succumbed.

A FARMER'S SUIOIDE. Christchurch, Last Night. A telegram has been received by the Inspector of Police here stating that a farmer at Little River named Jiohn Foley had committed suicide by shooting himself. Foley, who was sixty years of age, is stated to have been mentally depressed for some time. RIDING FATALITY AT KAPUNI. A riding fatality occurred near Kapuni lon Monday night. (Particulars available are meagre, out as far as can lie gathered are as follow:—A man named W. Dewar was riding with two companions when his horse swerved and lie was thrown. He was quickly pickel up. found to be unconscious, aud medical aid was summoned. The man, however, never rallied, and died without regaining consciousness.—Hawera Stir.
