THE KNYVETT CASE.
CHARGES AGAINST COLOXEL ROBIN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night./ Tlie enquiry into the charges agaimt Captain Knyvett, commanding No. 1 Company, Auckland Artillery, in corr nection with a letter addressed by him to the Minister of Defence, m continued to day. With respect to the first clferge, that he had written the folio#Ing'words:— "Preventing the possibility of a scandal leaking out as to the want of tact and the interference of the Chief of the General Staff," the Court found that the words had not ben» jised maliciously. With respect to the second charge, that he used the words: "It seems to me that Colonel Robin has personally gone out of his way to belittle, discourage- ancl damp the enthusiasm of the whole volunteer movement," the Court deemed ii was unnecessary for Captain Jvnvvett to coll evkienee in defence. With regard to the third charge, the use of the words: "Since these aftic'ioi appeared T have been approached toy many <.Ui<ers throughout the whole if the North bland -who have had similar experiences of the unwarranted interference and _ unexampled officialdom of Colonel Robin," Captain Knyvett gava the names of three officers, Captain Dawson, Captain Shera, and Color-Ser-geant MacKerras, who, on being called, Baid they had so approached Captain Knyvett and had had experience of unwarranted interference by Colonel Robin. -.The president said Captain Knyvett had established his statement that been approached bv the other officers!
