OBITUARY.

KEY. SANDERS SPENCER. The death occurred last evening of the Rev. Sanders Spencer, curate in charge of Te Hcnui parish. He underwent an operation for appendicitis two years ago, and since then had been intermittently ill. A few weeks ago he was operated upon again, and for some time afterwards his condition improved, but complications set in, rendering unavailing the most careful nursing and skilful medical treatment. The Rev. Spencer, who was' 35 years of age, was born in England, being educated at Cambridge University, coining out to the Bishop of Wellington about five or six years ago. He was for a short time curate at Mastcrton, leaving that position tu take charge of Te Kuiti Home Mission district, where he labored successfully until he was appointed to the curacy of Te Hcnui nearly two years ago. He was a man of estimable qualities, who loved his calling and the work connected with it; a zealous worker, never sparing himself in any way, his future being full of promise. His untimely end will be regretted by a host of friends, especially in this parish, where he was held in the greatest respect and regard. He was married just before he arrived here, and to his young widow much sympathy will be extended. The interment will take place at Otorohanga, the home of the paren's of Mrs. Spencer.
