SUPREME COURT.
BLENHEIM SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. The Supreme Court session was opened to-day before Mr. Justice Denniston. The judge said the calendar was fairly heavy for Nelson, four charges against four persons and three committals for sentence. Annie Thompson, aged 0(1, for sentence for perjury with regard to the birth of a child, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called on. The judge said lie- passed a sentence of this nature as the prisoner was! elderly and had borne a good character. Nevertheless, perjury was a serious offence, where the punishment as a rule should be deterrent. Isabella Xixon. daughter of the previous prisoner, was also put forward for sentence on charges of false declaration before the registrar of births, and perjury in a maintenance case against her husband. She was similarly dealt with on the ground of previous good character.
