KING COUNTRY LICENSES.
FURTHER APPLICATIONS. By Telegraph.-—Proua Association. Waitara, Friday. At the quarterly meeting of the ! Taumarunui Licensing Committee, an application was made on behalf of Ricuardfl Lawson, of Raurimu (King Country) for a .wholesale license there. Mr. Quilliam, for the applicants, said a large petition had been signed by the residents in favor of the application, but it was not to hand in time for presentation to the committee. He gave an assurance that the premises were not 111 the native area and that there wore no legal objections of any kind. The committee retired to consider the matter and the chairman announced on I their return that the committee wished the production 'formally of evidence showing the premises were not in the i ative area. It also wanted to sec the petition. The application -would m- ;w journed to .January 14 to enable tlwso point* to be met.* He added that 'l.e petition would have groat weight wiOl Ihe committee.
I An application was made informally i for Joseph Cody to be granted a new 'w at Ohalaine as the present licensed premises wore too small for the requirements. Th committee would express 110 opinion as to whether a new license "would be granted, but suggested thai the application be made to come bef.ive it on January 14.
