Cabinet Has granted the Waihi Gold -Mining Co. a license to utilise 10,000 , horse-power from the Ilora Horn Falls, on the Waikato river, twelve miVn above Cambridge. The lease is for a period oi forty-two years, and the rental is 3s per horse-power per annum, a rate which was so strongly objected to by a West Coast syndicate. The Coyernment reserves the right to take over the plant at any time during the ;urrenc.v of the lease, in order to prevent any monopoly, the terms of ncouisiMnn being tlie actual value of the installation nt the date of purchase, willmit anv allowance for interest. Operating will be commenced immediately as the companv hopes to have the whole plant riinnin;.' vijhin eighteen months. The installation Will cost £150,000.
