TO-DAY'S SHOW

Everything promises well for the Taranaki Agricultural Society's annual show, to he held to-day and to-morrow at the ibliow'grou'nds, racecourse reserve. Entries are large, and as the show is now more than ever a popular fixture we expect to see a record attendance. Vari- , 011s improvements have 'been made wn , tlie showgrounds latterly for the convenience of exhibitors and visitors'. Charges for admission to the grounds are: Adults one shilling, children sixpence; similar prices being charged for | admission to the grandstand, whence a splendid view can be obtained -of the ■horse-judging ring, leaping and other j competition. Townsfolk and country i people alike can spend an enjoyable day | at the allow. Amongst other attractions' this afternoon will be found hunting' and pony leaping competitions, 'or which there are splendid fields. Then there will be displays of machinery, vehicles, etc., bv various firms; an unusually large number of side-shows; and big competitions in butter and cheese.

The stock entries are big, and they contain much of exceptional merit. The judging commences during the morning, and it is unlikely that the judge* in the ring competitions' will get through before five o'clock to-night. To-morrow, in addition to all the usuai horse classes, such as tradesmen's turnouts, harness pairs, hacks, tandem teams, | there will be' hunters' competitions and dual jumping; hunters' competition with lady riders; pony leaping; leaping, steeplechase style; and a high jump competition. In all of these events there is big competition. There is also a good show of dogs. The grand parade of winning stock, considered by many to be/ the "star" item on an agricultural show programme, takes place at 2.30 p.m., and wjll bej followed immediately by a parade ot motor-cars, which should be worth seeing. The Garrison Band will play a well-selected programme. Luncheon, afternoon tea, and refreshments can be obtained on tlie ground.
