Penwarden, chairman 01 the school committee, presided, and an excellent programme was presented, and every item was thoroughly enjoyed, encores being numerous. LEPPIiItTON. The Lepperton Band of Hope held closing meeting for the session on Monday evening, iu tho Mcthodiat ChiKcii. There was a good attendance, and a:< excellent programme of songs, recitations, and dialogues was rendered in au efficient manner by the members anil visitors. At the close the Bev. I<\ 1. llead, on behalf of the members of the church, presented Miss J. Wright with a silver afternoon tea service, as a token of tke esteem and recognition of the faithful services rendered to the church as organist for a number of years. Mis's Wright has also been an earnest worker in the Band of Hope, especially iu Hie training of the children. The ladies m the congregation provided a ..omuaui supper, and the gathering bloke up ain-r prayer by the chairman. Special me ition should be made of the kindness ol Mr. D. MeK.ee, who gave a Selection ol records on his gramophone.

WAREA. A meeting of the Warea Defence ilille Club was held' in the lull on Saturday night, a fair muster of members iieing present. Mr. I'. Kivell was in the dm.'. It was decided lo open the new range on Boxing Day, 27th December, by boi I ing a combined basket picnic and sweepstake shooting match, open to all comers. It was also decided to make new lai get frames. The secretary was instruct - ed to write to Mr. F. M. Urayliiig liianking'bim for the trophy he has prc-cmed. It was decided to hold tho shooting fir this trophy over until after Chrisi inns.
