HEWITT'S PICTURES.
PERMANENTLY ESTABILiISiiED HERE.
To-night, at the Theatre K'oyal, tlie Hewitt Picture Company will open their permanent A'ew Plymouth picture entertainment series. The company puts on a grand liist night programme, and promise us something equally good at each entertainment. Landing the latest pictures at New Plymouth from tne European studios some weeks earlier than any other combination, the Hewitt Company-claims to be able to show a programme second to none in the douiiuiou. Thus, f'or to-night's show, we will have an entirely new lilm, a marvellous illustration of M. Blenot's record successful flight across the English Channel from start to finish, This is the first time tne picture has been shown here, and it is undoubtedly a '"star' item, which in itself is well worth t.ie price of admission, and more. The management has also secured some very finely-colored films, amongst which is a splendidly .performed drama, "The little street singers." As the title suggests, tnis is nu interesting sidelignt on child life. The linn is considered to be one ot the finest m projected 'on to tile screen. A scries of undouuted educational value, depicting some rare beauty spots, is entitled,. "Colombo and . Tropical scenery was probably 'never" more favorably taken. "The Race for the Fanners' Clip" should provide an interesting study, of particular interest to the followers of the sport ol kings. A film entitled " The flower girls' of Paris" is wf dramatic interest, capably played and well portrayed. Among the finest ot the entirely new humorous scenes, "The Terrible' Brazilian"'is said to be screamingly funny, one of Die best of the "4'akc" films produced in tlie dominion: j'The M'olli Hunter" will ensure another hearty laugh as long as Ike film itself, and other good comics ai\ "The Meddlesome Boy," and "Miss' Maggie's Fiancees." This article deals with only n portion iof the programme, which has many other useful films. A reminder is given that Hewitt's Pictures are practically New Plymouth s own entertainment, the company filling in all vacant dates at the Theatre Royal. The plant imported is said to lie an exceptionally good and valuable 'one, and it is in the hands of thoroughly exipert operators. We trust the new enterpike, opening; to-night, will receive a good, solid launching fiwm a bumper house.
