HEAVY RUN OX COAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. There is a heavy run on State coal in Christchurch, but'there are large stocks on hand to meet the increased demand. The alarming reports, published this morning with regard to the. Brunncr, Blackball and Papnra, mines are looked upon as exaggerations. It is reported that the Blackball men favor the State miners, r.nd there are rumors of the men being likely to cease work on Sat : unlay, but the officials at headquarters here deny this, and say the company i< working ami'i.bly under, the award. There had never been any ill-feeling. To-morrow will be t holiday under the award at the mine, lieing annual fete I day. All work of course will cease and the miners and Ihilt friends go in for I festivities.

TROUBLE LIKELY TO SPREAD. Greymouth, Last Night. There is nothing new to report in connection with the Slate mine strike. The men are quietly waiting for the Government to make a move. There are persistent rumors that unless a settlement is soon arrived at the trouble is likely to spread to the other mines.
