A TRAGIC AFFAIR.
ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Xiglll. The man whose body was found on the beach near Kaiwarra on Thursday was Andrew Edwards, married, aged 40, a resident of Khandallah. The evidence at the inquest showed tnat on November 11th deceased had teen drinking. He went home, and made himself to objectionable that his wife locked her-1 self in a room. He tried unsuccessfully to break in, and then fired a shot l through the wall. She escaped through I a window and spent the night with a j neighbor. Returning next day she found tile home considerably disturbed, and various articles stained with blood, Dr. I Fyfl'e said deceased had a gaping wound in his throat six inches long and very deep. Death, however, was due to drowning. Tf deceased, after wounding himself, walked to where the body was found (a mile and a-half) it was unexplninable. A verdict was returned that death was caused hy drowning, but there was no evidence In show how deceased got into the water.
