Mr. Bowling's scheme for working colliers at Ebbw Main and \ oung SVailtsend is expected to be put into operation tomorrow.
It is estimated that the output of the two mines will reach 2000 lons daily. There- is some dissatisfaction among the Western miners at the Union's colliery scheme. The miners came »»1 in order not to fill orders for the nvirket which otherwise mould go to X- v castle. They cannot see whv coal should be supplied to the market that thev ceased work to block. Altogether 20,<)00 men are idle as a result of the strike. ADVICE FROM THE THUNDERER. London, November 24. The Times says the New South Wales strikers seem unwilling to push things to extremities. It hopes all the parties will sec the necessity of coming to terms soon lest worse things should iefall them.
THE GOVERNMENT'S ACTION

In the Assembly, in reply to a question, Mie Acting-Premier said he wished it to bo clearly understood that the Government was not dictating or trying to bring the parties together. He had asked representatives of both sides to meet him at an early date, and did not regard the difficulties between the coalowners and men as insuperable.

COAL WANTED FOR THRESHING
PURPOSES.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Oamaru. Thursday. Local coal dealers anticipate no difficulty before the end of January when 1000 tons of Newcastle coal will be required for threshing. It was expected lo arrive before the end of the month, but the steamer left empty. Local stocks are pood at present and no rise in price is expected.
