OLD AGE PENSIONS.

Thirty-eight members ■of the House and several Legislative Councillors waited on the Premier to-day to urge certain amendments in the Old Ai»e Pensions Act. It was urged that the value of tie pensioner's home should not 'be counted against the computation of hi! pension. A sympathetic replv was <»iven by Sir Joseph Ward, who promised to give the representations everv consideration. Replying to the deputation re old a<" pennons, the Premier said if he thought £20,000 per year would, as stated, meet what the deputation asked for, he was prepared to say "yes." But Hint sum would not meet it. If a £OSO limit on the home were conceded, the pension payments would be increased by £SO 000 a year. By the alterations made iu'th,Pensions Act, 1008, the pensiqn payment increased from £353,000 to £370,00*0. He hoped to be able to introduce legislation on practical lines.
