THE KAIAPOT AFFAIR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christcliurch. Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court, Kaiapoi, tin* morning. James (iallauher was charged with escaping from the lock-up on October Bth. After evidence had been given, accused, who was committed for trial, reserved his defence, bail boin" fixed at £IOO. John and Patrick Oaflugher were then charged with aiding in the escape of tho prisoner. After evidence was heard, the charge was dismissed, as was a charge against the same persons of damaging the lock-up padlocks.
