MOTOR CAR FATALITY.
A QUESTION OF SOBRIETY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Chrifitchureh, Last Night. The inquest touching the death of Captain Pavitt was adjourned till to-day to permit the jury to examine the scene of the accident. The question of the sobriety of the driver, Humphreys, was raised. The Hon. G. .1. Smith,' AI.L.C., stated he had interviewed Humphreys before he started and was satisfied he was perfectly sober. He would have had no hesitation in driving into town in his car himself. The other occupants of the car testified to Humphrey's sobriety, and eventually the jury'found that Pavitt met his death by accident, no blame being attachable to anyone. captain PAvrrrrs funeral. Chrifitchureh, Last Night. Captain Pavitt was accorded a full military funeral. There was a large attendance of volunteers and civilians. The Hon. Buddo telegraphed to the secretary of the Education Board: "Deeply regret to hear of Captain Pavitt's death. A loyal member of the Board's staff Ws death will he regretted by all who knew him. Kindly convey my sympathy to his sorrowing relatives."
