CAPTAIN' SCOTT'S EXPEDITION'. Dj Cable.—Frcsa Association.—Copyrigli. London, October 13. The Agents-General were present at the meeting to consider the subject 01 Antarctic exploration. The Lord Mav«r announced that Lord Milner, Lord Curson, Lord Strathcona and the Royal Geo. graphical Society had supported Captain Scott's proposal. Captain Scott states that the biggest item will be wages. He could man the ships with unsalaried men to-morrow, but the geologist would know nothing of geology and the cook would be unable to cook. He proposed to spend £l-2.000 In purchasing « vessel. Sir Ed gar Speycr opened a subscription list * t donating £IOOO.
Captain Scott, interviewed recently, said that £40,000 was the minimum amount necessary to properly equip tho expedition. He felt witniu the overseas dominions, particularly Australia and New Zealand, would furnish a good snm towards the expedition. Tnev would be well represented on the staff.
