THE NEW HARBOR BILL, By Telegraph.—Press Association, Timaru, Last Night. At the ITarbor Board to-day a letter from its solicitors advised that some provisions of the new Harbors Bill if enacted would be extremely detrimental to this Board's interests in certain directions, and that other boards had approved of the provisions without recognising that they were detrimental to themselves also.
SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE CO Auckland, Last Night. The report and balance-sheet of the South British Insurance Co., Ltd., for the year ended 31st August shows an underwriting profit of £29,009. The re. venue from interest and rents is £30,0:0 mid the total profit from all sources is £59,025. Twenty thousand pounds is added to the reserve fund and payment of a dividend at the rate of Is fld per share for the second half-year, making •is in all for the year, is recommended. The amount carried forward to next year Is £39,528.

VETERINARY SCHOLARSHIPS. Invercargill, Last Night. Tlie directors of the Southland A. and P. Association decided to-day to contribute £5 annually for five years towards the establishment of veterinary scholarships, to enable New Zealand youths to study veterinary science under Professor Gilruth at Melbourne University, the Students to return to the Dominion when qualified.
