CHILD DESERTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. Tn the Supreme Court this morning Joseph Mansfield Hoiniston and hii wife, who were brought back from Fiji un a charge of child desertion, came up for sentence. Tlie Judge said he was satisfied no jury would convict the woman and discharged .her. As regards the male accused, he said it was no use , keeping .peopTo, here who would be a 'charge upon the community. Prisoner was in very Imd health, and had committed -,\ very bad oft'ence. He was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and if he did not leave the country in a reasonable time he would be, sentenced.
A BIGAMY CHARGE.
Auckland. Thursday.
In the Supreme Court to-day, William W. Logan, alias Hognn, who married his first wife in Tasmania and went through a second marriage ceremony at Auckland, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard labor.
