A .voung man nnnwd Earl McMasters. son of the late Mr. D. McMasters, wa» found dead in an avenue leading to the homestead at Tuhitarata. When the boy had a fall from a horse and fractured his skull a year ago he went to England for an operation on his hraV It is thought he had n fatal relapse of his old complaint. Deceased was 23 years of age. A MAORI DROWNED. Gishorne, Last Night. A Maori, aged 21, known as "Smiler," was drowned whilst crossing the Waikohhu river this morning. He was washed ofT his horse and carried down stream. The hody has not been recovered.
