ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
RAILWAY FATALITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. Herbert or Cliarlcs Standie, believed to be a resident of Marton, who was seriously injured on the railway line near the Thorndon Esplanade last night, died in the hospital this morning. Deceased never regained consciousness. Wclling.Uui, Last Night. Edlin (the fireman) said his attcnlim was called to the rattle of ballast at the rear end of Hie engine. The lij»ht of the first carriage showed the form of'a man lying beside the line.
The Coroner found death was due In deceased coining in contact with the train going in the opposite direction, neither fireman nor driver being to blame.
CRUSHED TO DEATH. | Gore, Last Night. A fatal accident occurred at Edendale this afternoon to a threshing mill hand named Angus Cameron, a middleaged man. He was riding on the foretarriage of the mill when it broke, and the front of the mill pinned him to the ground, breaking his neck. Deceased was married and had a grown-up family.
