MR. BUCHANAN'S OFFER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. A deputation from South Wairarapa waited on the Hon. McKeuzic to-day and urged him to accept the offer of Mr. W. C. Buchanan. M.l'., of .ttiOOO to purchase and stock an experimental farm in South Wairarapa. The Minister expressed high appreciation of the generosity of Mr. Buchanan, but pointed out that the Weraroa experimental farm vas already doing some good work and was well stocked. He suggested that it would be more advisable to devote 6uch a large sum of money or nny other sum io experiments in connection with seeds for cereal production, etc., rather than to duplicate the efforts the Government has already made in the experimental direction. Incidentally he. mentioned that the upkeep of a farm like that suggested would run into £2OOO per year. The Minister proposes to confer with Mr. Buchanan on the subject.
