An official correction shows that Townseud made 12!) and F. Roberts 80, making Gloucestershire 411 for the loss of eight wickets, at which total the innings was declared closed. A downpour of rain caused a delay, and a start was not made till after luncheon, when the pitch was slow, but easy.
The first wicket went at 20, Hartij-in sending up an easy catch to mid-off.
Bardsley and Ransford became associated. Both played free cricket and the century was hoisted ia 77 minutes. Bardslcy's half-century took 95 minutes. When 06 he was taken low down in the Slips. He batted 125 minutes and gave an exhibition of all-round play, hitting five fours.
The partnership lasted 90 minutes.— Two for 180.
The second century appeared after 145 minutes' play. Ransford played brilliant ali-round cricket, being especially fine in cutting and driving. Ke made 50 in 55 minutes and the century in 100 minutes. He gave a. chance to Brownlee off F. Roberts when 57. Altogether he was 130 minutes at the wickets and got 13 fourers.—Three for 220.
Excepting Gregory, who was careful, Dennett made short work of the others. The fourth -wicket fell at 224, fifth a* 230, sixth at 233, and seventh at 238.
